Chapter 2

No one else in the compartment raised their hand. The girl looked disgusted and let down.
“So you’re a blood traitor too?” She asked Kate-Lynne.
“If that’s what you call making friends,” Kate-Lynne snapped back, “Then yes. I guess I am.”
The girl stormed out of the compartment slamming the door behind her.

“What’s her problem?” Jo asked.
“Well you see,” Kate-Lynne began to explain, “Some purebloods believe that magical learning should be kept within all magic families. I for one am not like that. I believe that if you were sent a letter from Hogwarts you deserve to be there!”

Jo smiled weakly. Starsong nodded. The train seemed to be slowing down, and with a jerk it stopped. Then the lights in the train seemed to flicker and go out. It was beginning to get icy cold and it felt like all the happiness ha been sucked out of the world. This feeling happened for about twenty minutes, then the lights came back on and the cold lifted.

“What was that?” Starsong asked.
“I have n-no idea,” Jo was still shivering.

Just then an older, dark haired, girl, a prefect, poked their head in and asked, “Are you lot alright?”
“Yeah,” Kate-Lynne replied, “What just happened?”
“Well, some of the Dementor’s stopped the train and came aboard looking for Sirius Black,” The Prefect replied, “Just stay in your compartment until we get to the Hogsmade station.”
And with that the prefect went to check on more students.

“Who is Sirius Black?” Jo asked, she knew nothing of the magical world, “And what are Dementors?”
“You don’t know?” Starsong asked in shock.
Kate-Lynne took the time to explain who Sirius Black was and what the Dementors were.

“Why would they be at Hogwarts?” Jo asked.
“I have no idea,” Kate-Lynne said.
“I just hope they don’t come back,” Starsong said.

Pretty shortly the train came to a stop into the Hogsmade station. The Prefects were out in the train hall yelling, “Leave your luggage! It will be brought to the castle later on!”

The three students left the compartment and headed onto the platform. They saw a giant of a man bellowing,” First Years this way! First years!”

They three made there way to the giant man.

“Al’righ. I’m Hagrid,” The man said, “Follow me.”
All the first years followed Hagrid to the awaiting boats.
“Three to a Boa’,” He said loud enough for all the first years to hear. All obeyed.

Starsong, Jo and Kate-Lynne clambered into a boat. Ginger stirred in the hood of Kate-Lynne’s cloak, and meowed.

“What was that?” Jo asked with a worried look on her face.
“Oh, that’s just Ginger,” Kate-Lynne said as she reached back to pull the small cat out of her hood, “She’s my best friend.”
“Awe she’s so cute,” Jo said as she patted the cat.
Starsong patted the cat. Then Kate-Lynne put Ginger on her lap but the cat just climbed on to Kate-Lynne’s shoulder and back into her hood. Shortly the boats came into view of the gigantic castle of Hogwarts.
“Wow!” Kate-Lynne was excited the streak in her hair began to glow, “I never knew that Hogwarts was this beautiful!”
